We deliver cultural awareness training and support as a means of achieving long term employment outcomes for Aboriginal people.
All programs are tailored to the expectations of the employer and includes essential information on:
- The impact of colonisation, poverty and social exclusion
- Communicating effectively with Aboriginal people
- Aboriginal kinship and the world of work
The Cultural Development Team is under the guidance of the internationally esteemed Aboriginal art and cultural expert, Fay Nelson AM. Fay has been involved in the Aboriginal movement for more than 50 years, being a founder of NAISDA Dance College (the only Aboriginal dance college in Australia) and Cultural Leader of Bangarra Dance Theatre. In 2002 Fay’s work was acknowledged with award of the Order of Australia Medal for her services to Dance, Art and Culture
As an Elder and Traditional Owner of her homeland in Northern Queensland, Ms Nelson brings a wealth of personal and learned experiences to her training programs.
