Without family living in Sydney, Trevor felt he had no one he could confide in about his feelings or his aspirations.
When Trevor came to Yarn’n we realised he wasn’t ready for work and we had to help him address a range of health and other personal issues that needed to be resolved before embarking on the journey to work. And we needed to help him build a network of people he could rely on and trust.
To Trevor’s credit he actively addressed all issues which were holding him back while we assisted him with finding and setting up permanent accommodation.
Within a few months, we referred Trevor to an AIN/Wardsperson traineeship.
For the last seven months, Trevor has been working at Concord Hospital in the HIV Unit and according to managers and colleagues, his work ethic is second to none and his empathy and understanding towards patients is very rarely seen.
In Trevor’s words this traineeship is the greatest thing that has ever happened to him and he plans to retire doing the exact job he is doing now.
